April Auction Report 2012
Agatha Christie Book Collection
Kidson-Trigg Auctioneers, near Swindon, yesterday sold a small private collection of 18 agatha christie 1st edition novels signed and dedicated by the author to her long serving and aspirational assistant charlotte fisher, known as Carlotta or ‘Carlo’ to Agatha, and in the fondest terms.
‘When it was known that the consignment had come from such a fantastic source, from the history books of Agatha Christie herself, we knew we would have keen interest; no other examples of such a collection were known to exist.
The books, whilst in good condition, were slightly faded and bereft of their original dust jackets. As expected this had very little bearing on the value, with this part of the collection achieving the best part of £20,000.
Marc Anderson, the auctioneer, added ‘we have since been in touch with the local family who are delighted with the result and have indicated that the rest of the collection is to be consigned over the next couple of weeks. It seems that agatha continues to create suspense, even posthumously!’

Since this auction, the vendors have specifically requested that the unique collection be kept together, and so the remaining books have been sold by private treaty.
